I am so pleased I found this Community. I no longer feel alone, I didn’t realise just how many people actually have Bipolar until I joined the Facebook group.
We are more than just a ‘Reference Website’
You are not alone!
We have built a successful international following through social media. We are proud to facilitate a special and unique Community of supporters, sufferers and healthcare practitioners. Sharing together both the issues and tested solutions for living a better, happier life with Bipolar Disorder. Learn, share and belong.
Community Led Support
Connect: verb as in unite, link, relate
Connect is our online SharingBipolar Community peer support forum where you can:
- Talk about mental health and bipolar disorder, and
- Find others who understand what you’re going through.
We all know what it’s like to struggle sometimes. Connect provides a safe place to listen, share and be heard. Whether you’re feeling good right now or having a hard time, the Connect forum is a safe place to share experiences and listen to others. Our service is available to all, 24/7.
Connect is a moderated open forum, we respect freedom of speech but discourage anything that is not conducive to a productive, supportive conversation.
Please familiarise yourself with our website terms including our Connect usage restrictions at the foot of every page.
What is Connect for?
Connect is grounded in the values of peer support. It’s a welcoming place for people to:
- Make connections,
- Share experiences,
- Learn from each other, and
- Feel inspired to take positive steps on their mental health journey.
It’s important to note Connect isn’t a crisis service, neither is any of the SharingBipolar Community tools available. We ask all members to use Connect safely and to access other forms of support if they think they may need urgent help.
Please check out our information and advice if you are looking for crisis help. If you or someone you’re with is in immediate danger, call 999.
What is social networking?
The term social networking entails having connections in both the real and the digital worlds. Today, this term is mainly used to reference online social communications. The internet has made it possible for people to find and connect with others who they may never have met otherwise.
SharingBipolar is a private social network for Sufferers, Supporters and Medical Practitioners that deal with symptoms and effects of Bipolar.
Social Networking in our Community
Social networking through our Community fulfils the following four main objectives:
Sharing. Friends, family and other strangers who are geographically dispersed can connect remotely and share information, updates, experiences and knowledge. Social networking also enables individuals to meet other people with similar interests or to expand their current social boundaries.
Learning. Social networks serve as great learning platforms. Our members can quickly receive news, get content updates, or learn about what’s happening in our Community.
Interacting. Social networking enhances member interactions by breaking the barriers of time and distance. With cloud-based communication technologies such as our Connect support forum and private messaging, it is possible for a user to chat with another anywhere in the world instantly.
Marketing. Companies and research organisations may tap into our Community tools to enhance brand awareness with our members and promote trials, breakthroughs, medication and treatments.
Member 2 Member Resource links
The best information both on and offline comes through recommendation. We therefore provide the facility for all members to submit their suggestions and add relevant, useful links to SharingBipolar link library.
This is a new project that is being developed, keep a look out for the associated marketing messages and add links to pages, organisations, literature and other media to the archive.
All links submitted are fully vetted by Libby before being added so you know they are don’t contain misleading or erroneous information. Sometimes links are broken, just click on the ‘broken link’ button and we’ll get right on it!
